Welcome to the Cambridgeshire Badminton Association (Cambs BA), a County association affiliated to Badminton England.

Cambridgeshire Badminton Association is dedicated to the development and promotion of badminton throughout the whole of Cambridgeshire.  The county consists of around 30 affiliated clubs as well as hosting Junior, Senior and Masters teams playing in the Inter-County Championships.

U11 and U13 Fun Tournament for Juniors and New Players

If you're a budding U11 or U13 badminton player, there's another upcoming Fun Tournament at Burwell on 17th March from 12 noon.

You do not necessarily need to be in a club already to play in a fun tournament. If you want to give the sport a try, or have played at school and enjoyed it, this is a great introduction to a little competition.

Cambridgeshire U15 Restricted Tournament Results

The finals of the Boys Singles at the Cambridgeshire Under 15 Tournament saw a very close match between Jordan Huynh and Ashley James.  The early exchanges favoured Ashley who went into a good lead.  However, Jordan gradually caught up and eventually after the game was set was successful by 22-20.

In the semi-finals Jordan had defeated Aaron May 21-12 whilst Ashley beat Xi Mian Quah 21-19.  The match for third place saw Xi Mian beat Aaron 21-14.

For the doubles, Ashley teamed up with Xi Mian and they were successful defeating Jamie Rutter and Jamie Veitch 21-16.

There was no girls competition because there were not sufficient entries.

Cambs Players & U15 Restricted entry forms

Entry forms for the Cambridgeshire Players Tournament and the Cambridgeshire Under-15 Restricted Tournament are now available to download via the Tournament Entry Forms link.

The Players Tournament will be held on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September 2011 at Cambridge Regional College, entries close 10th September.

The Under-15 Restricted Tournament will be held on Saturday 15th October 2011 at Burwell, entries close 8th October.

Under 19 Junior Restricted Results

The Cambridgeshire Under 19 Junior Restricted Tournament was held at Burwell Sports Centre attracting over 40 entries.

The tournament provided success for the Lai family.  In the Girls Singles Jaclyn Lai retained her title by defeating Hannah Sharman 21-17.  Then in the doubles she was successful in partnership with Carolyn Key.  They met stern opposition from Rachael Farrington and Hannah Sharman before running out winners 21-18.

There was a major upset in the Boys Singles when the holder and favourite James Watkins went out in the semi-finals to Samuel Pickup 21-15.  The other semi-final saw Jaclyn younger brother Jason cruise to victory against Jack Boyns by 21-9.  In the final Jason added to the Lai family success by beating Samuel Pickup 21-11.

In the semi-final of the doubles Jack Boyns and James Watkins defeated the under 15 champions Thomas Li and Joshua Males 21-10.  Jason Lai and Samual Pickup then teamed up to beat Imran Ashraf and Matthew Price 21-17.  However in the final Jason Lai was not able to make it a clean sweep for the Lai family as he and Samuel Pickup lost out to Jack Boyns and James Watkins who won 21-19

Cambridgeshre Under 15 Restricted Tournament

There are double triumphs for Molly Carter and Thomas Li at the Cambridgeshire Under 15 Restricted Tournament held at the Burwell Sports Centre.

In the Girls Singles Molly defeated Jessica Sharman in a closely contested match.  It went to three ends before Molly ran out winner by 22-20, 14-21, 21-14.

For the Girls Doubles Molly and Jessica teamed up to take the title by overcoming Rachel Hoath and Gemma McGuire 21-18, 21-12. 

Thomas Li had a convincing win in the Boys Singles when he beat Joshua Males 21-15, 21-16.  They then joined to take the doubles title in a comprehensive way be defeating the holders Shudong Li and Tom Zang 21-5, 21-9.

Under 15s Cambridgeshire Restricted Tournament

The under age 15 Cambridgeshire Restricted Tournament was held at the Burwell Sports Centre.  The boys section attracted a record entry of 25 boys.

For the third seccessive year and for his final year in the age group the boys singles title was won by Jason Lai.  Jason who is already strong enough to play in the Senior Cambridgeshire County second team overwhelmed all his opponents all of whom failed to reach double figures.  In the final Jason defeated Joe Strickett 21 - 5.

For the boys doubles Joe Strickett was partnered by Ben Parker but failed to gain compensation for his singles defeat.  They went down to Shudong Li and Tom Zhang who won 21 - 11.

The girls singles gave evidence of a new rising star when 12 year old Molly Carter defeated Hannah Sharman in the final 21 - 15.

Hannah did however win the girls doubles.  Partnered by Carolyn Key they defeated Molly Carter and Jessica Sharman in three ends 21 - 12, 18 - 21, 21 - 16.
