Welcome to the Cambridgeshire Badminton Association (Cambs BA), a County association affiliated to Badminton England.

Cambridgeshire Badminton Association is dedicated to the development and promotion of badminton throughout the whole of Cambridgeshire.  The county consists of around 30 affiliated clubs as well as hosting Junior, Senior and Masters teams playing in the Inter-County Championships.

This web site is designed to enable Cambridgeshire Badminton Association to promote badminton through providing news and information on local, County and national badminton. Please visit this web site regularly to keep abreast of all the latest developments.

Adult Beginners/Developers Course at Chesterton

Any players who want to start the sport, or develop their basic badminton skills (ideally up to a level where you might be able to participate in a club) might be interested in a new course which is starting at Chesterton Community College.

This course will run for 10 weeks from ​Monday 29th April (not including Bank Holidays) at 6:00-7:00pm, coached by Sandra Dennis.

CCC Sports Centre is at ​Gilbert Road, Cambridge, CB4 3NY.  Anyone interested should phone 01223 576 110 for more details or to book a place.

Laurie Finch: Funeral Arrangements

​Laurie Finch's funeral will be held on Monday 22nd April at 2:15pm, at St Peter's and St Paul's Church in Chatteris.  An event will follow the funeral at the Conservative Club in Chatteris.

​The family are happy for people to either bring flowers, or to make a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support at the Church.

Anyone who wishes to come will be warmly welcome.​

Laurie Finch

After a brief battle with cancer, Head Coach of Cambridgeshire Schools Badminton Association (CSBA) Laurie Finch died peacefully in his sleep last night.​

​Laurie will be remembered by countless players in the County and beyond as a tireless advocate for the sport who has coached for nearly forty years and inspired several generations of players.

No Strings Badminton

Announcing a beginners / improvers badminton course being run at Netherhall Sports Centre. The course is a 6 week coached course for adults (16+) of beginner and improver level in badminton.

It starts from the 1st August every Wednesday for 6 weeks 6-7:30pm at Netherhall School Sport Centre. Rackets are available to borrow. The sessions will be fun and sociable allowing people to improve their fitness as well as learn more about playing badminton.

New Coaching Courses in the Eastern Region

There are new Level 1 and Level 2 coaching courses available in or near Cambridgeshire in the upcoming months:

UKCC L1 Coaching Course: Suffolk New College Sports Centre, Ipswich. IP4 1LT. Dates: 9th June, 10th June and 1st July.

UKCC L2 Coaching Course: Bushfields Leisure Centre, Orton Centre, Peterborough. PE2 5RQ. Dates: 30th June, 1st July, 12th August, 2nd September.

The 6 week coached course starts on the 12th January at Manor Sports Centre in Cambridge (Arbury Road), 6-7pm for adults who are of beginner level.
